PIC Weather Station

As a project personally for me hands on and for a course project. We had to implement the PIC in someway for a project so it would be challenging but not to sufficently diffcult. I originial, as in the group, of the idea of a weather station would be a good idea as it incorprates real time data readings and implementing various sensors among the PIC itself would be a good learning process. However, I was suggested in another forum (physics) adding some sort of implementation to allow to the PIC to a wireless network in range and upload new weather conditions every say 5 minutes or so to a website. My question would to be how would I implement this in a proper way? Things that come to mind to me, keep in mind, I've never played with micontrollers before this course. The "easier" route would be on the recieving end of the weather station where the data is being displayed connect the PIC to a PC, and create a terminal program of some sort since I have only experience in C++ but no GUI C++, and take the data being relayed to the PC from the PIC and upload it to a website. The other way to me would be find some way to connect the PIC to a wireless network in range and send data to a website, from the network the PIC is created. already have a free hoster which would be sufficient route. |

Before using any microcontroller you should have some knowledge of I/O, interrupts, Memory, Registers of microcontroller. And also if you learn assembly language programming you, it will help you to program microcontroller. Thus I suggest you to follow this procedure before using any microcontroller.

Thanks for the feedback. We were def. thrown into this microprocessors course knowning that almost all of never played with micro's and are expected to make a project at the end of the semester so the time to learn is now. I'll be throughly playing around with my Pickit3 kit, and sorting through some serious ASM tutorials, dread. As for the idea above, any perspective on that?? |
